Waging War Against God

The flame dies

Its quivering dance

Ends in a misstep

When you say the words

“Waging War Against God”.

The earth shakes

And disappears

Beneath our feet

When you say the words

“Waging War Against God”.

The tongue chokes

And our breath leaves

As smoke pouring from our ears

When you say the words

“Waging War Against God”.

The bewilderment echoes

In the chambers of our hearts

Of how one creature of God

Could hang another

From a crane!

In His name!

Of how a child murderer

A rapist

A baton wielding abuser

Could kill

A woman without a scarf

A child walking on the street

A mother on her balcony

And Say

THEY are

Waging War Against God.

I want to ask you,

When your God looks you in the eye,

What will he see?

How sad for you that day will be

When you find yourself

To be nothing, Godless for eternity.

I want to tell you,

We have eyes too.

The mothers, the fathers, the children

You killed

Their names sing in our eyes.

Millions of eyes

Singing their names

And THAT god,

Will always be theirs, and ours, and mine.

And our voices will rise, and rise, and rise.
